Call to Unity

Welcome

Tonnie Jones was born in Palo Alto, California, on Valentine's Day, 1943.  In 1965 he moved to New York City where he became an art teacher and a recognized sculptor and painter.  His works have been purchased by private collectors and by the Brooklyn Museum.  Notably, his 10-foot bronze casting, Thunder, made a cameo appearance in the film Rocky.

His work was inspired, passionate and most often a portrait of an important aspect of black culture.  He completed his last sculpture, Call to Unity, shortly before his passing on September 16, 2004.  This blog is a lasting tribute to my brother, Tonnie -- the artist, Tahni -- whose artistic legacy lives on in his works.
